Finance ETL · Part 7 of 8

Checks that clear themselves, delivered to the group chat.

The action system is a set of views that all return the same seven columns. The Signal bot reads them every morning and posts what needs doing. Fix the thing in the app, and the item is gone on the next sync.

Scratch cut · 1:33 Phone capture of the brief with demo data, cut to the budgeting app fixing an unapproved transaction, cut back to /actions after the sync. Item gone. Demo data, scratch voice, real pipeline. The live recording takes over once it is shot.

The action system

(cadence, priority, check_name, status, detail, action, metric)
cadence: daily | weekly | monthly | quarterly | yearly
status: action_required | attention | ok

Nothing is stored. Every check is computed live from the modeled tables, so there is no queue and no stale state. Thresholds live in one settings row.

The bot

Signal has no bot API, so the bot runs its own Signal account through a signal-cli sidecar. It posts the daily brief at 07:30, the weekly review Sunday evening, and the monthly review on the first. Slash commands cover actions, health, FIRE, cash, spend, the calendar, and a shared todo list.

It connects as a least-privilege role, writes only to its own schema and one completions table, and logs everything it hears and says to a table Metabase can read.

One check row lifts off the table and becomes one message in the group.
Audio · 3 minMatching cadences to household rituals
Scratch narration Daily is a glance, weekly is a conversation, monthly is a decision, quarterly is a payment.
